What is Showit United?
United is the premier conference for professional portrait and wedding photographers to come together and learn from amazing leaders in the industry. It is a time of refreshment and rejuvenation for entrepreneurs who work hard all year long and need to refuel. Some refer to United as ‘summer camp for photographers!’ and we completely agree, but you will leave with action steps to improve your business and life.
Is United only for photographers?
While the focus of United is wedding and portrait photographers, we have many attendees in other creative industries that join us. This includes web designers, florists, copy writers, marketers, and influencers who run their own businesses. All our attendees benefit from the wealth of knowledge presented on stage and in breakouts, that directly relates to running successful business as a creative entrepreneur.
How much does United cost?
The registration ticket costs $699.
What is included in the registration fee?
Conference registration includes:
- admittance to the 5 main sessions, and 6 breakout sessions
- access to United Online for a limited time after the event to view all keynotes and breakouts
- Sunday night welcome reception with light appetizers
- Lunch on Monday and Tuesday, dinner & dessert Monday night
- Add-on options available for Tuesday night gala ($99) and styled shoots ($65)
How much should I budget for extras beyond registration?
While many meals are included, there is a light continental style breakfast on a ‘first come first serve’ basis before the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday main sessions. If you need a full breakfast and coffee, there is a cafe in the hotel that also provides a great take out breakfast option. There are also a few restaurants and room service at the hotel. In addition, there are lots of restaurants a few short Uber minutes away from the hotel.
The Tuesday night formal dinner is optional and tickets are $99, but will be discounted for the first few weeks they go on sale, starting September 12th. There are also cash bars at the welcome reception, Monday night event, and Gala so bring cash if you want a drink.
Styled Shoots are $65 and will have a maximum of 20 attendees per shoot. The styled shoot preference survey will go out August 1st and needs to be submitted by August 15th. We will then notify you which shoot you got priority placement in (based on the order of your initial registration) and payments for your priority shoot must be completed by September 5th. After that, September 12th all remaining styled shoot slots will be open for purchase.
Where should I stay?
The conference is hosted at the beautiful Phoenix Marriott Resort Tempe at The Buttes and we have negotiated an amazing room rate for just $189/per night (+$12 resort fee per night +14.07% tax). The group rate is available from Oct 30th through November 10th for those coming earlier or staying after the conference is over. Your last chance to book at this rate is October 2nd, or when the hotel gets completely booked up.
If you would like to split the cost of a hotel room at The Buttes with someone else, you can choose to add the hotel onto your registration for $343.92 which covers Sunday, Monday and Tuesday night. We will then match you with a roommate that you request, or pair you with a roommate of the same sex. If you would like to add the hotel onto your registration, you can login at any time at the bottom of the United registration page and edit your registration to add that.
While there are many AirBnBs around Tempe, we have heard from many attendees who have chosen this option that they didn’t enjoy having to leave the fun at the hotel to go back and stay off-site, and then have to fight traffic to get back in the morning. The choice is obviously yours, we are just happy that you are coming!
How does the roommate situation work?
If you request a roommate, we will find you one! We go through the requests and personally hand pick a roommate that we think will be a great fit for you. Here’s what one attendee had to say about her roommate:
“Thank you for setting me up with the roommate that you chose for me. She was a perfect fit! We liked each so much we are going to be roomies again next year! You guys really are awesome!!!”
When should I plan to fly in and fly out?
We recommend that you fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor on Sunday, November 3, before 5pm. Registration starts in the late afternoon and at 6 PM we have our Welcome Reception! The last session for United ends at noon on Wednesday, and there are still some styled shoots from 1-2pm so plan accordingly. Many people try to get their flights for Wednesday, November 6th, in the evening but others choose to fly out Thursday and enjoy a relaxing evening at the resort with their new BFFs on Wednesday night.
Where should I fly into?
We recommend that you fly into Sky Harbor Airport (PHX). It is a solid 10-15 minute drive away from the hotel.
There is another airport in the Phoenix area – Mesa Gateway Airport (AZA). This airport is 30-40 minutes away from the hotel, but most of the discount airlines fly into this airport – like Allegiant, West Jet, and Swoop. So, it may still be worth looking into.
What are some important deadlines and dates that I should be aware of?
- Full paid registration refund available through June 1st, 2019. (Deposits are non-refundable.)
- 50% refund up to August 1st, 2019.
- For those with deposits, full payment is on August 1st, 2019.
- Tickets are transferable up to October 1st, 2019.

What should I expect at a Styled Shoot?
Styled Shoots are sold for $65 each, and are not included in the registration price. These will go on sale in September 2019.
This is an opportunity for you to get hands on training from a pro! These 90 minute sessions give you a chance to ask questions, get feedback, and glean from some trusted industry leaders. All while building your portfolio!
We have reduced the number of attendees to 20 (from 25 in previous years), to maximize your time at the Styled Shoot. We offer a wide range of shoots – from senior portraits, families, and all things wedding including details as well as a bride and groom!
What is the Gala and should I go to it?
The gala is a fun opportunity to get as glammed up as you want, and to cut loose and have a great time! Most of our attendees are used to being the photographer at an awesome reception, but now they get to be a guest and have FUN!
The price of the gala is $99 and not included in the price of registration. These will go on sale in September 2019.
It will be held away from the hotel, but we have transportation arranged.

What should I pack?
This is a great question, and this blog post is worth reading, especially if you have never been to Arizona before! The weather here is PERFECT in November, but that means it’s sunny and warm in the day time, but chilly/cold in the mornings and evenings. The post also goes over whether or not you should bring your camera gear or not.
I’m an introvert. And I’m coming alone. Will this be a nightmare for me?
We love introverts. We love extroverts. Everyone is welcome, and every year – everyone has a great time! If you come with the right attitude to learn and enjoy yourself – then you will! But don’t just trust us, trust a fellow introvert:
